Progress and the grid of sums

On Progress you can see how your child is doing, right down to each sum. Every sum has a colour, and that colour comes from how it went the last few times.

What’s at the top

Tap Progress at the bottom of the screen. At the top are four numbers:

  • days in a row that your child has practised, and their longest streak ever;
  • how many sums are in, out of all the sums there are;
  • how many sessions your child has done;
  • how many sums done in total.

Below that is Your tables: for each table, how many sums have stuck. The table your child is working on now says "you’re working on this". And you can see the Diplomas your child has already earned.

The grid with every sum

Under All sums, every sum sits in a grid: the rows are the tables, the columns how many times. Each sum has a colour:

ColourMeaning
got itOften right, and quick enough
almostNearly there, but not steady yet
keep practisingStill often goes wrong, or takes a long time
I don’t know yetNot done often enough to say anything

Tap a sum to see how many of the last few tries your child got right, and how long they took on average. With Practise the table of you can start on that table straight away.

When a sum counts as known

For each sum, the app looks at the last 10 tries, not at everything ever. That way a child who has learnt something isn’t held back by mistakes from months ago.

ColourWhen
got itat least 90% right, and 6 seconds or quicker on average
keep practisingless than 75% right, or slower than 8 seconds on average
almostin between
I don’t know yetfewer than 2 tries

In the United Kingdom the same standard, 90% right and 6 seconds on average, also applies to a diploma.

How far back you can look

On the free plan you can see the history of the last 7 days. With Pro, everything. What your child does always keeps counting: the tables, the diplomas and the colours in the grid all stay put.
